St George Slays the Dragon
All St George's icons in all the churches depict him slaying a dragon with a queen waiting on the side. There are many St Georges and the most famous one is St George the Roman of the 3rd century. None of their stories has a dragon except the mythical story in which he slays the dragon and saves the queen. Only the mythical unreal story is glorified in Church icons.
Some Christians justify the icon as symbolic; the dragon is the devil, the queen is the church and St George saved the church.
