Newton's Devine Intervention
In 1687 Isaac Newton could not explain how gravity keeps planets in orbit around the sun considering their mass. And to fill the missing element in his mathematical formula, he concluded that periodic divine intervention keeps them intact!!. 

However in 1776 Pierre Simon Laplace the French mathematician astronomer was able to solve the problem and explain how the celestial system remains intact by accurate mathematical formulas without the need for "periodic divine intervention". 

Stephen Hawking was able to understand and prove mostly how the universe works without the intervention of a creator. But he did not claim to know everything about the universe. 

We cannot prove an idea or a claim by not disproving it, that is redundant, not scientific and does not make sense. Proving God by claiming miracles such as the face of Jesus depicted on toast bread or in the clouds, oil dripping from a picture or casting demons on TV is too simple-minded. We now know very well that the brain is programmed to try to identify familiar shapes especially faces in any unclear vision (Pareidolia). Also now we know people used to have "demon position" are diagnosed and medically treated as Seizure Disorder, Epilepsy, Schizophrenia, Split Personality Disorder and so on. 

Geneticists found and are studying a gene they named "The God Gene". They observed this gene is more developed and active in very religious individuals regardless of their faith, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism or Islam. The same gene is observed to be inactive or less active in nonreligious individuals. 

It is also proven that the environment affects the genes we are born with. The environment can activate or suppress genes over time and that explains how one of two identical twins with identical genes get cancer or diabetes and not the other.  

No one could prove the non-existence of a creator and no one could prove its existence with evidence, at least for now. It is in human nature to believe in a powerful force to control, prevent or explain everything we don't know especially what we are powerless about. We are programmed that way. Separated different groups of humans almost everywhere over thousands of years of the known history believed in different Gods and Mythology explains it very well. 

The real problem here is when a group of faith claims for a fact that they KNOW EVERYTHING about God existence and God's character. When some group believes that only their God is the real one and all the others' are false.  When some believe that their God will reward only them after death and will burn all the rest in hell. When some believe that their God will reward them when they torture and kill all others. I believe that kind of God did not create anything but is only created by people.
